Abdon

Boyd’s Bible Dictionary:

(servile). (1) An Ephraimite judge of Israel for eight years (Judg. 12:13-1513And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel. 14And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years. 15And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites. (Judges 12:13‑15)). Supposed to be same as Bedan (1 Sam. 12:1111And the Lord sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelled safe. (1 Samuel 12:11)). (2) Son of Shashak (1 Chron. 8:2323And Abdon, and Zichri, and Hanan, (1 Chronicles 8:23)). (3) A Benjamite, son of Jehiel, of Gibeon (1 Chron. 8:30; 9:3630And his firstborn son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab, (1 Chronicles 8:30)
36And his firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, (1 Chronicles 9:36)
). (4) Son of Micah in Josiah’s time (2 Chron. 34:2020And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king's, saying, (2 Chronicles 34:20)); supposedly Achbor (2 Kings 22:1212And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying, (2 Kings 22:12)). (5) A city in tribe of Asher, assigned to the Levites (Josh. 21:3030And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs, (Joshua 21:30); 1 Chron. 6:7474And out of the tribe of Asher; Mashal with her suburbs, and Abdon with her suburbs, (1 Chronicles 6:74)); associated with modern Abdeh, 10 miles N. E. of Accho, or Acre, the Ptolemais of N. T.

Concise Bible Dictionary:

5. City in the tribe of Asher, one of the four given to the Gershonites (Josh. 21:3030And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs, (Joshua 21:30); 1 Chron. 6:7474And out of the tribe of Asher; Mashal with her suburbs, and Abdon with her suburbs, (1 Chronicles 6:74)). Probably the same as Hebron in the list of the cities of Asher in Joshua 19:2828And Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto great Zidon; (Joshua 19:28). According to Gesenius, Abdon is read here in twenty Hebrew manuscripts instead of Hebron, though most of the ancient versions favor Hebron. This is not the well-known Hebron which is in Judah’s lot. Abdon is identified with Abdeh, 33° 3' N, 35° 9' E.
