1 John 1:1‑5:21• 1What was from [the] beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we looked on, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life
2(and the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and report to you the eternal life, the which was with the Father and was manifested to us);
3that which we have seen and have heard we report to you also, that ye also may have fellowship with us; yea, and our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4And these things [we] write [to you] that your joy may be made full.
5And this is the message which we have heard from him, and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth.
7But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus [Christ] his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8If we say that we have no sin, we mislead ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1My dear children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin. And if anyone sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ [the] righteous;
2and he is [the] propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the whole world.
3And herein we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments.
4He that saith, I have known him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily the love of God hath been perfected. Herein we know that we are in him.
6He that saith he abideth in him ought, even as he walked, himself also to walk.
7Beloved, no new commandment I write to you, but an old commandment, which ye had from [the] beginning: the old commandment is the word which ye heard.
8Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing, and the true light already shineth.
9He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in the darkness until now.
10He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.
11But he that hateth his brother is in the darkness, and walketh in the darkness, and knoweth not where he goeth, because the darkness blinded his eyes.
12I write to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven you for his name's sake.
13I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from [the] beginning; I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one; I write to you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14I wrote to you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from [the] beginning.
15Love not the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loveth the world, the love of the Father is not in him:
16because all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17And the world is passing, and its lust; but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
18Little children, it is [the] last hour, and even as ye heard that antichrist cometh, even now many antichrists have come, whence we know that it is [the] last hour.
19From us they went out, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have abode with us, but [they went out] that they might be manifested that none are of us.
20And ye have anointing from the Holy One, and know all things.
21I wrote not to you, because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22Who is the liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is the antichrist that denieth the Father and the Son.
23Every one that denieth the Son hath not the Father either; he that confesseth the Son hath the Father also.
24As for you, let what ye heard from [the] beginning abide in you: if what ye heard from the beginning abide in you, ye also shall abide in the Son and in the Father.
25And this is the promise which he promised us, life eternal.
26These things I wrote to you concerning those that lead you astray.
27And as for you, the anointing which ye received from him abideth in you, and ye have no need that anyone should teach you; but as the same anointing teacheth you, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, ye abide in him.
28And now, dear children, abide in him that, if he be manifested, we may have boldness, and not be put to shame from before him at his coming.
29If ye know that he is righteous, know that every one that doeth righteousness hath been begotten of him.
1See what love the Father hath given us, that we should be called children of God [and we are]. For this reason, the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2Beloved, now are we God's children, and not yet was it manifested what we shall be. We know that if he should be manifested we shall be like him, because we shall see him even as he is.
3And every one that hath this hope on him purifieth himself even as he is pure.
4Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
5And ye know that he was manifested that he might take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6Every one that abideth in him sinneth not; every one that sinneth hath not seen him, nor known him.
7Dear children, let no one lead you astray: he that doeth righteousness is righteous even as he is righteous.
8He that doeth sin is of the devil, for from [the] beginning the devil sinneth. To this end was manifested the Son of God that he might undo the works of the devil.
9Every one that hath been born of God doeth not sin, because his seed abideth in him; and he cannot sin, because he hath been begotten of God.
10Herein are manifest the children of God and the children of the devil: every one that doeth not righteousness is not of God, and he that loveth not his brother.
11For this is the message which ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another:
12not as Cain was of the wicked one, and slew his brother; and for what did he slay him? Because his works were wicked, and those of his brother righteous.
13Wonder not, brethren, if the world hateth you.
14We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not the brother abideth in death.
15Every one that hateth his brother is a murderer; and ye know that no murderer hath life eternal abiding in him.
16Herein we know love, because he laid down his life for us; and we ought for the brethren to lay down our lives.
17But whoso may have the world's means of living, and behold his brother having need, and shut up his bowels from him, how abideth the love of God in him?
18Dear children, let us not love with word nor with the tongue, but in deed and truth.
19And herein we shall know that we are of the truth, and shall persuade our hearts before him,
20that if our heart condemn us, [it is] that God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we have boldness toward God,
22and whatsoever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things pleasing in his sight.
23And this is his commandment, that we believe the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and that we love one another, even as he gave us commandment.
24And he that keepeth his commandments abideth in him, and he in him. And herein we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he gave to us.
1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, if they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2Herein ye know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesseth Jesus Christ come in flesh is of God;
3and every spirit which confesseth not Jesus is not of God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is already in the world.
4Ye are of God, dear children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that [is] in you than he that [is] in the world.
5They are of the world: for this reason they speak [as] of the world, and the world heareth them.
6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God doth not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7Beloved, let us love one another; because love is of God; and every one that loveth hath been begotten of God, and knoweth God.
8He that loveth not knew not God, because God is love.
9Herein was manifested the love of God in us, that God hath sent His only-begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us, and sent his Son [as] propitiation for our sins.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12No one hath beheld God at any time: if we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love hath been perfected in us.
13Herein we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he hath given to us of his Spirit.
14And we have beheld, and testify that the Father hath sent his Son as Saviour of the world.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God.
16And we have known and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love, and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God in him.
17Herein hath love been perfected with us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because even as he is, we also are in this world.
18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth hath not been perfected in love.
19We love, because he first loved us.
20If Anyone say, I love God, and hate his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21And this commandment have we from him, that he that loveth God love also his brother.
1Every one that believeth that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God, and every one that loveth him that begot loveth also him that is begotten of him.
2Herein we know that we love the children of God when we love God and keep his commandments.
3For this is the love of God that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.
4For all that is begotten of God overcometh the world, and this is the victory that overcame the world, our faith.
5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6This is he that came through water and blood, Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood; and it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth.
7Because three are those that bear witness,
8the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three agree in one.
9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; because this is the witness of God which he hath witnessed concerning his Son.
10He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself; he that believeth not God hath made him a liar, because he hath not believed in the witness which God hath witnessed concerning his Son.
11And this is the witness that God gave to us life eternal, and this life is in his Son.
12He that hath the Son hath life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13These things I wrote to you that ye may know that ye that believe on the name of the Son of God have life eternal.
14And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he heareth us.
15And if we know that he heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
16If anyone see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he will give him life for those that sin not unto death. There is sin unto death: I do not say that he should request for it.
17Every unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not unto death.
18We know that everyone that is begotten of God sinneth not, but the begotten of God keepeth himself, and the wicked one toucheth him not.
19We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in the wicked one.
20And we know that the Son of God came, and hath given to us understanding that we should know the true one; and we are in the true one, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life eternal.
21Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.
(1 John 1:1‑5:21)
;
2 John 1‑13• 1The elder to an elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not I only but also all who have known the truth,
2for the truth's sake, which abideth in us, and it shall be with us forever.
3Grace shall be with you, mercy, peace, from God [the] Father and from Jesus Christ the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4I rejoiced exceedingly that I have found of thy children walking in truth even as we received commandment from the Father.
5And now I beseech thee, lady, not as writing to thee a new commandment but that which we had from [the] beginning that we should love one another.
6And this is love that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment even as ye heard from [the] beginning that ye should walk in it.
7Because many misleaders went forth into the world, they that confess not Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This is the misleader and the antichrist.
8Look to yourselves, that we may not lose what we wrought but receive full reward.
9Every one that goeth onward and abideth not in the doctrine of the Christ hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10If Anyone cometh to you and bringeth not this doctrine, receive him not at home and greet him not;
11for he that greeteth him partaketh in his wicked works.
12Having many things to write to you, I would not with paper and ink; but I hope to come unto you and to speak mouth unto mouth that our joy may be made full.
13The children of thine elect sister greet thee.
(2 John 1‑13)
;
3 John 1‑14• 1The elder to the beloved Gaius whom I love in truth.
2Beloved, I desire that in all things thou shouldest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3For I rejoiced exceedingly when brethren came and bore witness to thy truth, even as thou walkest in truth.
4I have no greater joy than these things, that I hear of my children walking in the truth.
5Beloved, thou doest a faithful thing whatsoever thou mayest do unto the brethren and this, strangers
6who bore witness to thy love before the church; in setting forward whom on their journey worthily of God thou wilt do well;
7for they went forth for the name's sake, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow-workers with the truth.
9I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes that loveth pre-eminence among them receiveth us not.
10For this reason if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he doeth, babbling against us with wicked words; and not content with these things, neither himself receiveth the brethren, and those who would he hindereth and casteth out of the church.
11Beloved, imitate not the evil but the good. The good-doer is of God; the evil-doer hath not seen God.
12Demetrius hath been witnessed to by all, and by the truth itself; and we also bear witness, and thou knowest that our witness is true.
13Many things I had to write to thee, but with ink and pen I will not write to thee;
14but I hope soon to see thee, and we will speak mouth unto mouth. Peace [be] to thee. The friends greet thee. Greet the friends by name.

;
Rev. 1:1‑3• 1Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave him to show his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and sending by his angel he signified it to his servant John;
2who testified the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ ( whatsoever things he saw.
3Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy and keep the things written in it; for the time is at hand.

Simon was called Zelotes ({vi 25162}{/vi}, {vi 26937}{/vi}), answering to the Hebrew word translated "Cananean," as it should be, not meaning either of Canaan or of Cana, but "zealot," one of that well-known fierce party of Jews.
