The pit was empty, there was no water in it.
When the Lord suffered for us, the pit He found Himself in was quite different from the dry pit that Joseph was in. “The waters are come in unto My soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing. . . . The floods overflow Me.” And there are many other verses. Joseph was a beautiful type of Christ. But, as in all types, it falls short in some areas. Nevertheless, Joseph experienced a little of what Jesus experienced when He went into death for us.
