Ex. 37:1‑38:31• 1{i}And Bezaleel made the ark of acacia-wood; two cubits and a half the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.{/i}
2{i}And he overlaid it with pure gold inside and outside, and made a border of gold upon it round about.{/i}
3{i}And he cast for it four rings of gold, for its four corners: two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.{/i}
4{i}And he made staves of acacia-wood and overlaid them with gold.{/i}
5{i}And he put the staves into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark.{/i}
6{i}—And he made a mercy-seat of pure gold; two cubits and a half the length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof.{/i}
7{i}And he made two cherubim of gold; of beaten work did he make them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat;{/i}
8{i}one cherub at the end of one side, and one cherub at the end of the other side; out of the mercy-seat he made the two cherubim at the two ends thereof.{/i}
9{i}And the cherubim spread out their wings over it, covering over with their wings the mercy-seat; and their faces were opposite to one another: the faces of the cherubim were turned toward the mercy-seat.{/i}
10{i}And he made the table of acacia-wood; two cubits the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.{/i}
11{i}And he overlaid it with pure gold, and made upon it a border of gold round about.{/i}
12{i}And he made for it a margin of a hand-breadth round about; and made a border of gold for the margin thereof round about.{/i}
13{i}And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings on the four corners that were on the four feet thereof.{/i}
14{i}Close to the margin were the rings, as receptacles of the staves to carry the table.{/i}
15{i}And he made the staves of acacia-wood, and overlaid them with gold, to carry the table.{/i}
16{i}And he made the utensils that were on the table, the dishes thereof, and the cups thereof, and the bowls thereof, and the goblets with which to pour out, of pure gold.{/i}
17{i}And he made the candlestick of pure gold; of beaten work he made the candlestick: its base, and its shaft, its cups, its knobs, and its flowers were of itself.{/i}
18{i}And six branches went out of the sides thereof—three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side thereof;{/i}
19{i}there were three cups shaped like almonds in the one branch, a knob and a flower; and three cups shaped like almonds in the other branch, a knob and a flower: so in the six branches which went out of the candlestick.{/i}
20{i}And in the candlestick were four cups, shaped like almonds, its knobs, and its flowers;{/i}
21{i}and a knob under two branches thereof, and again a knob under two branches thereof, and again a knob under two branches thereof, for the six branches which went out of it.{/i}
22{i}Their knobs and their branches were of itself—all of one beaten work of pure gold.{/i}
23{i}And he made the seven lamps thereof, and the snuffers thereof, and the snuff-trays thereof, of pure gold.{/i}
24{i}Of a talent of pure gold he made it, and all its utensils.{/i}
25{i}And he made the altar of incense of acacia-wood; a cubit the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, square, and two cubits the height thereof: its horns were of itself.{/i}
26{i}And he overlaid it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and made upon it a border of gold round about.{/i}
27{i}And he made two rings of gold for it under its border, by its two corners, on the two sides thereof, as receptacles for the staves with which to carry it.{/i}
28{i}And he made the staves of acacia-wood, and overlaid them with gold.{/i}
29{i}And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of fragrant drugs, according to the work of the perfumer.{/i}
1{i}And he made the altar of burnt-offering of acacia-wood; five cubits the length thereof, and five cubits the breadth thereof, square, and three cubits the height thereof.{/i}
2{i}And he made its horns on the four corners thereof; its horns were of itself; and he overlaid it with copper.{/i}
3{i}And he made all the utensils of the altar: the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls, the forks, and the firepans; all its utensils made he of copper.{/i}
4{i}And he made for the altar a grating of network of copper under its ledge from beneath, to the very middle of it.{/i}
5{i}And he cast four rings for the four corners of the grating of copper, as receptacles for the staves.{/i}
6{i}And he made the staves of acacia-wood, and overlaid them with copper.{/i}
7{i}And he put the staves into the rings on the sides of the altar, with which to carry it. Hollow with boards did he make it.{/i}
8{i}And he made the laver of copper, and its stand of copper, of the mirrors of the crowds of women who crowded before the entrance of the tent of meeting.{/i}
9{i}And he made the court. On the south side southward, the hangings of the court were of twined byssus, a hundred cubits;{/i}
10{i}their pillars twenty, and their bases twenty, of copper; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.{/i}
11{i}And on the north side, a hundred cubits; their pillars twenty, and their bases twenty, of copper; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.{/i}
12{i}And on the west side, hangings of fifty cubits; their pillars ten, and their bases ten; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver.{/i}
13{i}And for the east side, eastward, fifty cubits;{/i}
14{i}the hangings on the one wing of fifteen cubits, their pillars three, and their bases three;{/i}
15{i}and on the other wing, on this side as on that side of the gate of the court, hangings of fifteen cubits, their pillars three, and their bases three.{/i}
16{i}All the hangings of the court round about were of twined byssus;{/i}
17{i}and the bases of the pillars of copper, the hooks of the pillars and their connecting-rods of silver, and the overlaying of their capitals of silver; and all the pillars of the court were fastened together with rods of silver.{/i}
18{i}—And the curtain of the gate of the court was of embroidery of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus; and the length was twenty cubits, and the height like the breadth, five cubits, just as the hangings of the court;{/i}
19{i}and their pillars four, and their bases four, of copper; their hooks of silver, and the overlaying of their capitals and their connecting-rods of silver.{/i}
20{i}And all the pegs for the tabernacle and for the court round about were of copper.{/i}
21{i}These are the things numbered of the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony, which were counted, according to the commandment of Moses, by the service of the Levites, under the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest.{/i}
22{i}And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that Jehovah had commanded Moses;{/i}
23{i}and with him Aholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and artificer, and an embroiderer in blue, and in purple, and in scarlet, and in byssus.{/i}
24{i}All the gold that it took for the work in all the work of the sanctuary—the gold of the wave-offering, was twenty-nine talents, and seven hundred and thirty shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.{/i}
25{i}And the silver of them that were numbered of the assembly was a hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and seventy-five shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary:{/i}
26{i}a bekah the head—half a shekel, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, for every one that passed the numbering from twenty years old and upward, of the six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.{/i}
27{i}And there were a hundred talents of silver for casting the bases of the sanctuary, and the bases of the veil; a hundred bases of a hundred talents, a talent for a base.{/i}
28{i}And of the thousand seven hundred and seventy-five shekels he made the hooks for the pillars, and overlaid their capitals, and fastened them with rods.{/i}
29{i}And the copper of the wave-offering was seventy talents, and two thousand four hundred shekels.{/i}
30{i}And he made with it the bases for the entrance of the tent of meeting, and the copper altar, and the copper grating for it, and all the utensils of the altar.{/i}
31{i}And the bases of the court round about, and the bases of the gate of the court, and all the pegs of the tabernacle, and all the pegs of the court round about.{/i} (Ex. 37:1‑38:31)
Num. 4:1‑49• 1{i}And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,{/i}
2{i}Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, according to their fathers' houses,{/i}
3{i}from thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, all that enter into the service, to do the work in the tent of meeting.{/i}
4{i}This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting: it is most holy.{/i}
5When the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering veil, and cover the ark of testimony with it:
6and shall put thereon the covering of badgers' (or tachash) skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staves thereof.
7{i}And upon the table of showbread they shall spread a cloth of blue; and put thereon the dishes, and the cups, and the bowls, and goblets of the drink-offering; and the continual bread shall be thereon.{/i}
8And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet , and cover the same with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put in the staves thereof.
9{i}And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and its lamps, and its snuffers, and its snuff-trays, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they perform its service;{/i}
10{i}and they shall put it and all the utensils thereof within a covering of badgers' skin, and shall put it upon a pole.{/i}
11{i}And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers' skin, and shall put its staves to it.{/i}
12{i}And they shall take all the instruments of service, wherewith they serve in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers' skin, and shall put them upon a pole.{/i}
13{i}And{/i} they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon.
14{i}and they shall put upon it all the utensils thereof, wherewith they perform service about it: the firepans, the forks, and the shovels, and the bowls, —all the utensils of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers' skin, and put its staves to it.{/i}
15{i}And when Aaron and his sons have ended covering the sanctuary, and all the utensils of the sanctuary, when the camp setteth forward, then afterwards the sons of Kohath shall come to carry it; but they shall not touch the holy things, lest they die. This is what the sons of Kohath have to carry in the tent of meeting.{/i}
16{i}And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall have the oversight of the oil for the light, and the fragrant incense, and the continual oblation, and the anointing oil, —the oversight of the whole tabernacle, and of all that is therein, over the sanctuary, and over its furniture.{/i}
17{i}And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,{/i}
18{i}Ye shall not cut off the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites,{/i}
19{i}but this shall ye do unto them, that they may live, and not die, when they draw near unto the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden;{/i}
20{i}but they shall not go in and see for a moment the holy things, lest they die.{/i}
21{i}And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,{/i}
22{i}Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, according to their fathers' houses, after their families.{/i}
23{i}From thirty years old and upward to fifty years old shalt thou number them; every one that cometh to labour in the work, to perform the service in the tent of meeting.{/i}
24{i}This shall be the service of the families of the Gershonites, in serving, and in carrying:{/i}
25{i}they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tent of meeting, its covering, and the covering of badgers' skin that is above upon it, and the curtain of the entrance to the tent of meeting,{/i}
26{i}and the hangings of the court, and the curtain of the entrance, of the gate of the court, which surroundeth the tabernacle and the altar, and the cords thereof, and all the instruments of their service; and all that is to be done for these things shall they perform.{/i}
27{i}At the commandment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their carrying, and in all their service; and ye shall appoint unto them in charge all their carrying.{/i}
28{i}This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting, and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.{/i}
29{i}The sons of Merari: after their families, according to their fathers' houses shalt thou number them;{/i}
30{i}from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the labour, to perform the service of the tent of meeting.{/i}
31{i}And this shall be the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tent of meeting: the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and bases thereof,{/i}
32{i}and the pillars of the court round about, and their bases, and their pegs, and their cords, all their instruments, according to all their service; and by name ye shall number to them the materials which are their charge to carry.{/i}
33{i}This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service in the tent of meeting, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.{/i}
34{i}And Moses and Aaron and the princes of the assembly numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and according to their fathers' houses,{/i}
35{i}from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entered into the labour, for service in the tent of meeting.{/i}
36{i}And those that were numbered of them according to their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.{/i}
37{i}These are they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, every one that served in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Jehovah through Moses.{/i}
38{i}And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, after their families, and according to their fathers' houses,{/i}
39{i}from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entered into the labour, for service in the tent of meeting,{/i}
40{i}even those that were numbered of them, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, were two thousand six hundred and thirty.{/i}
41{i}These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, all that served in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Jehovah.{/i}
42{i}And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, after their families, according to their fathers' houses,{/i}
43{i}from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entered into the labour, for service in the tent of meeting,{/i}
44{i}even those that were numbered of them according to their families, were three thousand two hundred.{/i}
45{i}These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Jehovah through Moses.{/i}
46{i}All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel numbered, after their families and according to their fathers' houses,{/i}
47{i}from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that came to serve in the work of the service, and in the work of carrying, in the tent of meeting,{/i}
48{i}even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand five hundred and eighty.{/i}
49{i}According to the commandment of Jehovah they were numbered by Moses, every one for his service, and for his burden, and numbered by him, as Jehovah had commanded Moses{/i}. (Num. 4:1‑49)
1 Kings 6:1‑8:66• 1{i}And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Jehovah.{/i}
2{i}And the house that king Solomon built for Jehovah was sixty cubits in length, and twenty in breadth, and thirty cubits in height.{/i}
3{i}And the porch, in front of the temple of the house, was twenty cubits in length, in front of the house broadways, and ten cubits was its breadth, in front of the house.{/i}
4{i}And for the house he made closed windows with fixed lattices.{/i}
5{i}And against the wall of the house he built floors round about, against the walls of the house, round about the temple and the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about.{/i}
6{i}The lowest floor was five cubits broad, and the middle one was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for in the thickness of the wall of the house he made resets round about outside, that nothing should be fastened in the walls of the house.{/i}
7{i}And the house, when it was being built, was built of stone entirely made ready before it was brought thither; so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house while it was being built.{/i}
8{i}The entrance to the side-chambers of the middle floor was in the right side of the house; and they went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third.{/i}
9{i}And he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.{/i}
10{i}And he built the floors against all the house, five cubits high; and they held to the house by the timbers of cedar.{/i}
11{i}And the word of Jehovah came to Solomon saying,{/i}
12{i}As to this house which thou art building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and practice mine ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then will I perform my word as to thee which I spoke unto David thy father;{/i}
13{i}and I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.{/i}
14{i}And Solomon built the house and finished it.{/i}
15{i}And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house to the walls of the roof; he overlaid them on the inside with wood, and overlaid the floor of the house with boards of cypress.{/i}
16{i}And he built twenty cubits of the innermost part of the house, both floor and walls, with boards of cedar; and he built them for it within, to be the oracle, the most holy place.{/i}
17{i}And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.{/i}
18{i}And the cedar of the house within was carved with colocynths and half-open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.{/i}
19{i}And he prepared the oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.{/i}
20{i}And the oracle within was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof; and he overlaid it with pure gold; and he overlaid the cedar-wood altar—{/i}
21{i}and Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold, and shut off the oracle in front with chains of gold, and overlaid it with gold.{/i}
22{i}And the whole house he overlaid with gold, the whole house entirely; also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.{/i}
23{i}And he made in the oracle two cherubim of olive-wood, ten cubits high;{/i}
24{i}and one wing of the cherub was five cubits, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub, ten cubits from the end of one wing to the end of the other wing;{/i}
25{i}and the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.{/i}
26{i}The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so of the other cherub.{/i}
27{i}And he set the cherubim in the midst of the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched, wing to wing, in the midst of the house.{/i}
28{i}And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.{/i}
29{i}And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved sculptures of cherubim, and palm-trees, and half-open flowers, within and without.{/i}
30{i}And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.{/i}
31{i}And for the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive-wood: the lintel and side posts were the fifth part of the breadth of the house.{/i}
32{i}The two doors were of olive-wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, and palm-trees and half-open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold on the cherubim and on the palm-trees.{/i}
33{i}And he also made for the doorway of the temple posts of olive-wood, of the fourth part of the breadth of the house.{/i}
34{i}And the two folding-doors were of cypress-wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.{/i}
35{i}And he carved on them cherubim, and palm-trees, and half-open flowers; and overlaid them with gold fitted on the carved work.{/i}
36{i}And he built the inner court of three rows of hewn stone, and a row of cedar-beams.{/i}
37{i}In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Jehovah laid, in the month Zif;{/i}
38{i}and in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished in all its parts, and according to all the fashion of it. So he was seven years in building it.{/i}
1{i}And Solomon was thirteen years building his own house; and he finished all his house.{/i}
2He built also the house of the forest of Lebanon; {i}its length was a hundred cubits, and its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, upon four rows of cedar-pillars, with cedar-beams upon the pillars;{/i}
3{i}and it was covered with cedar above upon the side-chambers, which were on forty-five pillars, fifteen in a row.{/i}
4{i}And there were cross-beams in three rows, and window was against window in three ranks.{/i}
5{i}And all the doors and posts were square, with an architrave; and window was against window in three ranks.{/i}
6{i}And he made the porch of pillars; its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth thirty cubits; and there was a porch in front of them; and there were pillars, and steps in front of them.{/i}
7{i}And he made the porch for the throne where he judged, the porch of judgment; and it was covered with cedar from floor to floor.{/i}
8{i}And his house where he dwelt had another court within the porch, which was of the like work. And he made, like to this porch, a house for Pharaoh's daughter, whom Solomon had taken.{/i}
9{i}All these buildings were of costly stones, hewn stones, according to the measures, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation to the coping, and on the outside as far as the great court.{/i}
10{i}And the foundations were of costly stones, great stones, stones of ten cubits and stones of eight cubits.{/i}
11{i}And above were costly stones, hewn stones, according to the measures, and cedar.{/i}
12{i}And the great court round about had three rows of hewn stones, and a row of cedar-beams; and so it was for the inner court of the house of Jehovah, and the porch of the house.{/i}
13{i}And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.{/i}
14{i}He was a widow's son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass; and he was full of wisdom and understanding and knowledge, to do all kinds of works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and made all his work.{/i}
15{i}And he formed the two pillars of brass; the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a line of twelve cubits encompassed the second pillar.{/i}
16{i}And he made two capitals of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars; the height of the one capital was five cubits, and the height of the other capital was five cubits;{/i}
17{i}and nets of checker-work, wreaths of chain-work, for the capitals which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital and seven for the other capital.{/i}
18{i}And he made pomegranates, namely two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars; and so he did for the other capital.{/i}
19{i}And the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily-work as in the porch, four cubits.{/i}
20{i}And the capitals upon the two pillars, above also, close to the enlargement which was behind the network, had two hundred pomegranates in rows round about, also on the other capital.{/i}
21{i}And he set up the pillars for the porch of the temple; and he set up the right pillar, and called its name Jachin; and he set up the left pillar, and called its name Boaz.{/i}
22{i}And upon the top of the pillars was lily-work; and the work of the pillars was finished.{/i}
23{i}And he made the sea, molten, ten cubits from brim to brim, round all about; and its height was five cubits; and a line of thirty cubits encompassed it round about.{/i}
24{i}And under the brim of it round about there were colocynths, encompassing it, ten in a cubit enclosing the sea round about; two rows of colocynths, cast when it was cast.{/i}
25{i}It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; and the sea was above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.{/i}
26{i}And its thickness was a hand-breadth, and its brim was like the work of the brim of a cup, with lily-blossoms; it held two thousand baths.{/i}
27{i}And he made ten bases of brass: four cubits was the length of one base, and the breadth four cubits, and the height three cubits.{/i}
28{i}And the work of the bases was this: they had panels, and the panels were between the fillets.{/i}
29{i}And on the panels that were between the fillets were lions, oxen and cherubim; and over the fillets there was a base above; and beneath the lions and oxen were garlands of festoon-work.{/i}
30{i}And every base had four wheels of brass, and axles of brass; and on its four corners were shoulder-pieces: under the laver were shoulder-pieces molten, behind every garland.{/i}
31{i}And the mouth of it within the crown and above was a cubit; and its mouth was rounded, as the work of the base, a cubit and a half; and also upon its mouth was sculpture; but their panels were square, not round.{/i}
32{i}And the four wheels were under the panels; and the supports of the wheels were in the base; and the height of a wheel was a cubit and half a cubit.{/i}
33{i}And the work of the wheels was like the work of a chariot wheel: their supports, and their rims, and their spokes and their naves were all molten.{/i}
34{i}And there were four shoulder-pieces to the four corners of one base; of the base itself were its shoulder-pieces.{/i}
35{i}And in the top of the base there was a circular elevation of half a cubit round about; and on the top of the base its stays and its panels were of the same.{/i}
36{i}And he engraved on the plates of its stays and on its panels cherubim, lions and palm-trees, according to the space upon each; and garlands were round about.{/i}
37{i}After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, one form.{/i}
38{i}And he made ten lavers of brass: one laver contained forty baths; every laver was four cubits; upon every one of the ten bases one laver.{/i}
39{i}And he put the bases, five on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house; and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward, over against the south.{/i}
40{i}And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the bowls. So Hiram ended doing all the work that he made for king Solomon for the house of Jehovah:{/i}
41{i}two pillars, and the globes of the capitals that were on the top of the pillars, two; and the two networks, to cover the two globes of the capitals which were on the top of the pillars;{/i}
42{i}and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for one network, to cover the two globes of the capitals which were upon the pillars;{/i}
43{i}and the ten bases, and the ten lavers on the bases;{/i}
44{i}and one sea, and the twelve oxen under the sea;{/i}
45{i}and the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls. And all these things, which Hiram made king Solomon for the house of Jehovah, were of bright brass.{/i}
46{i}In the plain of the Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay-ground between Succoth and Zaretan.{/i}
47{i}And Solomon left all the vessels unweighed from their exceeding number; the weight of the brass was not ascertained.{/i}
48{i}And Solomon made all the vessels that were in the house of Jehovah: the golden altar; and the table of gold, whereon was the showbread;{/i}
49{i}and the candlesticks of pure gold, five on the right, and five on the left, before the oracle; and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold,{/i}
50{i}and the basons, and the knives, and the bowls, and the cups, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, for the folding-doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, of the temple.{/i}
51{i}And all the work was finished that king Solomon made for the house of Jehovah. And Solomon brought in the things that David his father had dedicated; the silver and the gold and the vessels he put among the treasures of the house of Jehovah.{/i}
1{i}Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.{/i}
2{i}And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, that is, the seventh month.{/i}
3{i}And all the elders of Israel came; and the priests took up the ark.{/i}
4{i}And they brought up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent: the priests and the Levites brought them up.{/i}
5{i}And king Solomon, and all the assembly of Israel that were assembled to him, who were with him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.{/i}
6{i}And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah to its place, into the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, under the wings of the cherubim;{/i}
7{i}for the cherubim stretched forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its staves above.{/i}
8{i}And the staves were long, so that the ends of the staves were seen from the holy place before the oracle, but they were not seen without. And there they are to this day.{/i}
9{i}There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone which Moses placed there at Horeb, when Jehovah made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.{/i}
10{i}And it came to pass when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Jehovah,{/i}
11{i}and the priests could not stand to do their service because of the cloud; for the glory of Jehovah had filled the house of Jehovah.{/i}
12{i}Then said Solomon: Jehovah said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.{/i}
13{i}I have indeed built a house of habitation for thee, a settled place for thee to abide in forever.{/i}
14{i}And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel; and the whole congregation of Israel stood.{/i}
15{i}And he said: Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,{/i}
16{i}Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; but I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.{/i}
17{i}And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house unto the name of Jehovah the God of Israel.{/i}
18{i}But Jehovah said to David my father, Whereas it was in thy heart to build a house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thy heart;{/i}
19{i}nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.{/i}
20{i}And Jehovah has performed his word which he spoke; and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah promised, and I have built the house unto the name of Jehovah the God of Israel.{/i}
21{i}And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of Jehovah, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.{/i}
22{i}And Solomon stood before the altar of Jehovah in the presence of the whole congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward the heavens.{/i}
23{i}And he said, Jehovah, God of Israel! there is no God like thee, in the heavens above, or on the earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart;{/i}
24{i}who hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him; thou spokest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thy hand, as at this day.{/i}
25{i}And now, Jehovah, God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only thy sons take heed to their way, to walk before me as thou hast walked before me.{/i}
26{i}And now, O God of Israel, let thy words, I pray thee, be verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David my father.{/i}
27{i}But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heavens, and the heaven of heavens, cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!{/i}
28{i}Yet have respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, Jehovah, my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee this day;{/i}
29{i}that thine eyes may be open upon this house night and day, upon the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.{/i}
30{i}And hearken unto the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place, and hear thou in thy dwelling-place, in the heavens, and when thou hearest, forgive.{/i}
31{i}If a man have sinned against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to adjure him, and the oath come before thine altar in this house;{/i}
32{i}then hear thou in the heavens, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head; and justifying the righteous, giving him according to his righteousness.{/i}
33{i}When thy people Israel are put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house;{/i}
34{i}then hear thou in the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land that thou gavest unto their fathers.{/i}
35{i}When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, because thou hast afflicted them;{/i}
36{i}then hear thou in the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou teachest them the good way wherein they should walk; and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.{/i}
37{i}If there be famine in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blight, mildew, locust, caterpillar; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their gates; whatever plague, whatever sickness there be:{/i}
38{i}what prayer, what supplication soever be made by any man, of all thy people Israel, when they shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house;{/i}
39{i}then hear thou in the heavens, the settled place of thy dwelling, and forgive, and do, and render unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou knowest (for thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men),{/i}
40{i}that they may fear thee all the days that they live upon the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.{/i}
41{i}And as to the stranger also, who is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name's sake{/i}
42{i}(for they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy mighty hand, and of thy stretched-out arm); when he shall come and pray toward this house,{/i}
43{i}hear thou in the heavens thy dwelling-place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; in order that all peoples of the earth may know thy name, and that they may fear thee as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.{/i}
44{i}If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray to Jehovah toward the city that thou hast chosen, and the house that I have built unto thy name;{/i}
45{i}then hear thou in the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their right.{/i}
46{i}If they have sinned against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and give them up to the enemy, and they have carried them away captives unto the enemy's land, far or near;{/i}
47{i}and if they shall take it to heart in the land whither they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captive, saying, We have sinned, and have done iniquity, we have dealt perversely;{/i}
48{i}and if they return unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city that thou hast chosen, and the house that I have built unto thy name;{/i}
49{i}then hear thou in the heavens, the settled place of thy dwelling, their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their right;{/i}
50{i}and forgive thy people their sin against thee, and all their transgressions whereby they have transgressed against thee, and give them to find compassion with those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them{/i}
51{i}(for they are thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron) —{/i}
52{i}thine eyes being open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.{/i}
53{i}For thou hast separated them from among all peoples of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spokest through Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord Jehovah.{/i}
54{i}And it was so, that when Solomon had ended praying all this prayer and supplication to Jehovah, he arose from before the altar of Jehovah, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread forth to the heavens,{/i}
55{i}and he stood and blessed the whole congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,{/i}
56{i}Blessed be Jehovah, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there has not failed one word of all his good promises which he spoke through Moses his servant!{/i}
57{i}Jehovah our God be with us, as he was with our fathers; let him not forsake us nor cast us off:{/i}
58{i}that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers.{/i}
59{i}And let these my words, with which I have made supplication before Jehovah, be nigh to Jehovah our God day and night, that he maintain the right of his servant, and the right of his people Israel, as the matter of each day shall require;{/i}
60{i}that all peoples of the earth may know that Jehovah is God, that there is none else;{/i}
61{i}and that your heart may be perfect with Jehovah our God, to walk in his statutes and to keep his commandments, as at this day.{/i}
62{i}And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifices before Jehovah.{/i}
63{i}Then{/i} Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto Jehovah, twenty-two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. {i}So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of Jehovah{/i}.
64The same day did the king hallow the middle court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brazen altar that was before Jehovah was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.
65And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, {i}from the entrance of Hamath unto the torrent of Egypt, before Jehovah our God, seven days and seven days, fourteen days{/i}.
66On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that Jehovah had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people. (1 Kings 6:1‑8:66)
Ezek. 43:1‑48:35• 1And he brought me to the gate, the gate that faceth the east.
2And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east, and his voice [was] as the sound of many waters, and the earth shined with his glory.
3And [it was] according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city; and the visions [were] like the visions that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.
4And the glory of Jehovah came into the house by the way of the gate whose aspect [is] toward the east.
5And the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of Jehovah filled the house.
6And I heard [him] speaking to me from the house, and a man was standing by me.
7And he said to me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever: and the house of Israel shall no more defile my holy name, they nor their kings, by their whoredom, and by the carcasses of their kings in their sepulchres ;
8while they set their threshold beside my threshold, and their doorpost beside my doorpost, and the wall between me and them, they even defiled my holy name with their abominations which they committed, so that I consumed them in mine anger.
9Now let them remove their whoredom and the carcasses of their kings far from me; and I will dwell in the midst of them forever.
10Thou, O son of man, tell the house of Israel of the house that they may be ashamed of their iniquities, and let them measure the pattern.
11And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, let them know the form of the house, and its arrangements, and the goings out of it, and the comings in of it, and all the forms of it, and all the laws of it; and write it in their sight, that they may observe all its forms and all its statutes and do them.
12This [is] the law of the house: on the summit of the mountain shall its whole limit round about be most holy. Behold, this [is] the law of the house.
13And these [are] the measure of the altar in cubits: The cubit [is] a cubit and a handbreadth, and the bottom a cubit, and the breadth a cubit, and its border on its edge round about a span: this [shall be] the outside of the altar.
14And from the bottom [on] the ground to the lower projection two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser projection to the greater projection four cubits, and the breadth a cubit,
15and the hearth four cubits; and from the hearth and upwards four horns;
16and the hearth twelve [cubits] long, twelve broad, square on its four sides;
17and the projection fourteen [cubits] long, and fourteen broad, on its four sides; and the border round about it half a cubit, and its bottom a cubit round about. And its steps shall look toward the east.
18And he said to me, Son of man, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: These [are] the ordinances of the altar on the day when it shall be finished, to offer burnt-offerings thereon, and to sprinkle blood thereon.
19And thou shalt give to the priests, the Levites, who are of the seed of Zadok, who approach to me, saith the Lord Jehovah, to minister unto me, a young bullock for a sin-offering.
20And thou shalt take of his blood, and put it on its four horns, and on the four corners of its projection, and upon the border round about. And thou shalt cleanse it, and make an atonement for it.
21And thou shalt take the bullock for a sin-offering, and one shall burn him at an appointed place of the house outside the sanctuary.
22And on the second day thou shalt offer an he-goat, without blemish, for a sin-offering. And they shall cleanse the altar as they cleansed it for the bullock.
23When thou hast made an end of cleansing it, thou shalt offer a young bullock without blemish, and a ram out of the flock without blemish,
24and thou shalt bring them near before Jehovah, and the priest shall throw salt upon them, and they shall offer them up a burnt-offering unto Jehovah.
25Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a sin-offering. They shall also prepare a young bullock, and a ram out of the flock, without blemish.
26Seven days shall they atone for the altar, and purify it. And they shall consecrate it.
27And when these days are expired, it shall be on the eighth day and forward, the priests shall prepare upon the altar your burnt-offerings, and your peace-offerings, and I will accept you, saith the Lord Jehovah.
1Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut.
2Then said Jehovah unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut.
3It is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before Jehovah; he shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate, and shall go out by the way of the, same.
4Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the house. And I looked, and behold the glory of Jehovah filled the house of Jehovah; and I fell upon my face.
5And Jehovah said unto me, Son of man, mark well; behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of Jehovah, and all the laws thereof. And mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
6And thou shalt say to the rebellious, to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Let it suffice you of your abominations, {i}O ye house of Israel,{/i}
7in that ye have brought children of a stranger, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat, and the blood; and they have broken my covenant, because of all your abominations.
8And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things, but ye have set keepers of my ordinance in my sanctuary for yourselves.
9Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, no stranger uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel.
10And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went astray, when Israel went astray far from me {i}after their idols{/i}, shall even bear their iniquity.
11Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the house, and ministering to the house. They shall slay the burnt-offering, and the sacrifice for the people; and they shall stand before them, to minister unto them.
12Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord Jehovah, and they shall bear their iniquity.
13And they shall not come near unto me, to do the office of a priest unto me, nor to come near to any of my holy things in the most holy place, but they shall bear their shame and their abominations which they have committed.
14But I will make them keepers of the charge of the house, for all the service thereof, and for all that shall be done therein.
15But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith Jehovah God:
16They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge.
17And it shall come to pass, [that] when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister, in the gates of the inner court, and within.
18They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird [themselves] with anything that causeth sweat.
19And when they go forth into the outer court, into the outer court to the people, they shall put off their garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on other garments; and they shall not sanctify the people with their garments.
20Neither shall they shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only poll their heads.
21Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.
22Neither shall they take for their wives a widow, nor her that is put away: but they shall take maidens of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow that had a priest before.
23And they shall teach my people [the difference] between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
24And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; they shall judge it according to my judgments; and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my Sabbaths.
25And they shall come at no dead person to defile themselves; but for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister that hath had no husband, they may defile themselves.
26And after he is cleansed, they shall reckon unto him seven days.
27And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, unto the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin-offering, saith Jehovah God.
28And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I [am] their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I [am] their possession.
29They shall eat the meat-offering, and the sin-offering, and the trespass-offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.
30And the first of all the firstfruits of all [things], and every oblation of all, of every [sort] of your oblations, shall be the priest's; ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house.
31The priests shall not eat of anything that is dead of itself, or torn, whether it be fowl or beast.
1And when ye shall cause the land to fall by lot for inheritance, ye shall heave an heave-offering unto Jehovah, a holy portion of the land. The length [shall be] the length of five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand; it shall be holy in all the border round about.
2Of this shall be for the sanctuary five hundred by five hundred, square round about; and fifty cubits an open place for it round about.
3And of this measure shalt thou measure the length of five and twenty thousand, and the breadth of ten thousand; and in it shall be the sanctuary and the most holy place.
4The holy portion of the land shall be for the priests the ministers of the sanctuary, which shall come near to minister unto Jehovah: and it shall be a place for their houses, and an holy place for the sanctuary.
5And the five and twenty thousand of length, and the ten thousand of breadth, shall also the Levites, the ministers of the house, have for themselves, for a possession for twenty chambers.
6And ye shall appoint the possession of the city five thousand broad, and five and twenty thousand long, over against the oblation of the holy portion; it shall be for the whole house of Israel.
7And a portion shall be for the prince on the one side, and on the other side of the oblation of the holy portion, and of the possession of the city, before the oblation of the holy portion, and before the possession of the city, from the west side westward, and from the east side eastward: and the length shall be over against one of the portions, from the west border unto the east border.
8In the land shall be his possession in Israel: and my princes shall no more oppress my people; and the rest of the land shall they give to the house of Israel according to their tribes.
9Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; Let it suffice you, O princes of Israel: remove violence and spoil, and execute judgment and justice, take away your exactions from my people, saith the Lord Jehovah.
10Ye shall have just balances, and a just ephah, and a just bath.
11The ephah and the bath shall be of one measure, that the bath may contain the tenth part of an homer, and the ephah the tenth part of an homer; the measure thereof shall be after the homer.
12And the shekel shall be twenty gerahs; twenty shekels, five and twenty shekels, fifteen shekels, shall be your maneh.
13This is the oblation that ye shall offer; the sixth part of an ephah of an homer of wheat, and ye shall give the sixth part of an ephah of an homer of barley:
14Concerning the ordinance of oil, the bath of oil, ye shall offer the tenth part of a bath out of the cor, which is an homer of ten baths; for ten baths are an homer:
15And one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat-offering, and for a burnt-offering, and for peace-offerings, to make reconciliation for them, saith the Lord Jehovah.
16All the people of the land shall give this oblation for the prince in Israel.
17And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt-offerings, and meat-offerings, and drink-offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the Sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin-offering, and the meat-offering, and the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
18Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; In the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary:
19and the priests shall take of the blood of the sin-offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
20And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple: so shall ye reconcile the house.
21In the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the Passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.
22And upon that day shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bullock for a sin-offering.
23And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt-offering to Jehovah, seven bullocks and seven rams without blemish daily the seven days; and a kid of the goats daily for a sin-offering.
24And he shall prepare a meat-offering of an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram, and an hin of oil for an ephah.
25In the seventh month, in the fifteenth day of the month, shall he do the like in the feast of the seven days, according to the sin-offering, according to the burnt-offering, and according to the meat-offering, and according to the oil.
1Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
2And the prince shall enter by the way of the porch of [that] gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt-offering and his peace-offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
3Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before Jehovah in the Sabbaths and in the new moons.
4And the burnt-offering that the prince shall offer unto Jehovah in the Sabbath day [shall be] six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish.
5And the meat-offering [shall be] an ephah for a ram, and the meat-offering for the lambs as he shall be able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephah.
6And in the day of the new moon [it shall be] a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish.
7And he shall prepare a meat-offering, an ephah for a bullock, and an ephah for a ram, and for the lambs according as his hand shall attain unto, and an hin of oil to an ephah.
8And when the prince shall enter, he shall go in by the way of the porch of [that] gate, and he shall go forth by the way thereof.
9But when the people of the land shall come before Jehovah in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate; he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
10And the prince in the midst of them, when they go in, shall go in; and, when they go forth, shall go forth.
11And in the feasts and in the solemnities the meat-offering shall be an ephah to a bullock, and an ephah to a ram, and to the lambs as he is able to give, and an hin of oil to an ephah,
12Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt-offering or peace-offerings voluntarily unto Jehovah, [one] shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he shall prepare his burnt-offering and his peace-offerings, as he did on the Sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth [one] shall shut the gate.
13Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt offering unto Jehovah [of] a lamb of the first year without blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
14And thou shalt prepare a meat-offering for it every morning, the sixth part of an ephah, and the third part of an hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a meat-offering continually by a perpetual ordinance unto Jehovah.
15Thus shall they prepare the lamb, and the meat-offering, and the oil, every morning [for] a continual burnt-offering.
16Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons, the inheritance thereof shall be his sons'; it [shall be] their possession by inheritance.
17But if he give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants, then it shall be his to the year of liberty; after, it shall return to the prince: but his inheritance shall only be for his sons.
18Moreover the prince shall not take of the people's inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; he shall give to his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
19After he brought me through the entry, which [was] at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which looked toward the north: and, behold, there [was] a place on the two sides westward.
20Then said he unto me, This [is] the place where the priests shall boil the trespass-offering and the sin-offering, where they shall bake the meat offering; that they bear [them] not out into the outer court, to sanctify the people.
21Then he brought me forth into the outer court, and caused me to pass by the four corners of the court; and, behold, in every corner of the court [there was] a court.
22In the four corners of the court [there were] courts joined of forty [cubits] long and thirty broad: these four corners [were] of one measure.
23And [there was] a row [of building] round about in them, round about them four, and [it was] made with boiling places under the rows round about.
24Then said he unto me, These [are] the places of them that boil, where the ministers of the house shall boil the sacrifice of the people.
1Then he brought me back unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued from under the threshold of the house eastward; for the front of the house [was toward] the east, and the waters came down from under the right side of the house, at the south of the altar.
2And he brought me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the outer gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.
3And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.
4Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.
5Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.
6And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen [this]? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.
7Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.
8Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea; which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.
9And it shall come to pass, that everything that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and everything shall live whither the river cometh.
10And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even unto En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
11But the miry places thereof and the marshes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.
12And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary; and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
13Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have two portions.
14And ye shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.
15And this shall be the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;
16Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazar-hatticon, which is by the coast of Hauran.
17And the border from the sea shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.
18And the east side ye shall measure from Hauran, and from Damascus, and from Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.
19And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.
20The west side also shall be the great sea from the border, till a man come over against Hamath.
21This is the west side. So shall ye divide this land unto you according to the tribes of Israel.
22And it shall come to pass that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.
23And it shall come to pass, that in what tribe the stranger sojourneth, there shall ye give him his inheritance, saith the Lord Jehovah.
1Now these [are] the names of the tribes:
2And by the border of Dan, from the east side unto the west side; Asher, one.
3And by the border of Asher, from the east side even unto the west side; Naphtali, one.
4And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side unto the west side; Manasseh, one.
5And by the border of Manasseh, from the east side unto the west side; Ephraim, one.
6And by the border of Ephraim, from the east side even unto the west side; Reuben, one.
7And by the border of Reuben, from the east side unto the west side; Judah, one.
8And by the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the oblation which ye shall offer, five and twenty thousand in breadth, and in length as one of the parts, from the east side to the west side; and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
9The oblation that ye shall offer unto Jehovah [shall be] of five and twenty thousand in length, and of ten thousand in breadth.
10And for them, [even] for the priests, shall be [this] holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand [in length], and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of Jehovah shall be in the midst thereof.
11[It shall be] for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.
12And [this] oblation of the land that is offered shall be unto them a thing most holy by the border of the Levites.
13And over against the border of the priests the Levites [shall have] five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: all the length [shall be] five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.
14And they shall, not sell of it, neither exchange, nor alienate the firstfruits of the land; for [it is] holy unto Jehovah.
15And the five thousand, that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand, shall be a profane [place] for the city, for dwelling, and for suburbs: and the city shall be in the midst thereof.
16And these [shall be] the measures thereof: the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.
17And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
18And the residue in length over against the oblation of the holy [portion shall be] ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the oblation of the holy [portion]; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city.
19And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.
20All the oblation [shall be] five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.
21And the residue [shall be] for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy oblation; and the sanctuary of the house [shall be] in the midst thereof.
22Moreover, from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, [being] in the midst [of that] which is the prince's, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
23As for the rest of the tribes, from the east side unto the west side; Benjamin, one.
24And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side; Simeon, one.
25And by the border of Simeon, from the east side unto the west side; Issachar, one.
26And by the border of Issachar, from the east side unto the west side; Zebulun, one.
27And by the border of Zebulun, from the east side unto the west side; Gad, one.
28And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar [unto] the waters of strife [in] Kadesh, [and] to the river toward the great sea.
29This [is] the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these [are] their portions, saith the Lord Jehovah.
30And these [are] the goings forth of the city: on the north side four thousand and five hundred measures;
31and the gates of the city [shall be] according to the names of the tribes of Israel; three gates northward, one gate of Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi.
32And at the east side four thousand and five hundred: and three gates; and one gate of Joseph, one gate of Benjamin, one gate of Dan.
33And at the south side four thousand and five hundred measures: and three gates; one gate of Simeon, one gate of Issachar, one gate of Zebulun.
34At the west side four thousand and five hundred, [with] their three gates; one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali.
35[It was] round about eighteen thousand [measures]; and the name of the city from [that] day [shall be], Jehovah [is] there. (Ezek. 43:1‑48:35)
