 It is a salvation on which the Holy Spirit never wearies of expatiating. And how gracious of God toward those who have His word and yet are in danger of neglecting "so great salvation"! not only neglecting to receive it but negligent of it when professed. This snare of a religious people like Israel is just the danger of Christendom now. (Hebrews 2:1-4 by W. Kelly)
 How then shall we escape if we neglect a salvation which the Lord Himself has announced? Thus the service of the Lord among the Jews was a word of salvation, which the apostles confirmed and which the mighty testimony of the Holy Spirit established. (Hebrews 2 by J.N. Darby)
 Here it is the salvation which was preached by the Lord to the Jews, by which a way of escape was opened to the believing remnant from the judgment about to fall on the nation. Not merely neglected when presented, but not cared for when, as here, they were nominally inside making profession. As Matt. 22.5. "They made light of" the invitation to the supper. 1 Tim. 4.14. "negligent" of the gift in him. he had it. Heb. 8.9. Israel was disobedient, and Jehovah "did not regard them."
