It seems desirable to note that the term Nazarean in verses 5, 7, and in chap. 19:19, is (Nazōraion). So it is in Matt. 2:23, 26:71, {vi 24636}{/vi}, and {vi 25726}{/vi} (though both questioned); and in Acts 2:22, 3:6, 4:10, 6:14, 9:5 (though the best omit), 22:8, 24:5, and 26:9. It is the name of shame and scorn. (Nazarēne) like ’of Nazareth’ is an inhabitant of Nazareth, reproached or not, and occurs in Mark 1:24, 14:67, 16:6; {vi 25098}{/vi}; and our Lord we have characterised as ’out of Nazareth’ in {vi 26091}{/vi}, and in {vi 27298}{/vi}.
