 It is Himself, who gave up all His rights in order that He might have sinners washed in His blood and redeemed to God; it was He who bought the world, in order to acquire the treasure He valued. The two things are distinctly presented in John 17:2, "As Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him."  “Treasure hid in a field” is not Israel, on whom He has turned His back after they had rejected Him. He is now engaged with another treasure from among the Gentiles (Acts 15:14; Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 2:9). Matthew 13 is occupied with the present phase of the kingdom of heaven and then the outcome, without reference to the future prophetic things concerning Israel. (Help on Hard Verses by A.C. Brown)
