44-47: The offices of priests and Levites appointed in the temple.We have in this chapter a record of little more than the names of a great many priests and Levites, that were eminent in their day among the returned Jews.

It is good to know what our godly ancestors and predecessors were, that we may learn thereby what we should be.the priests.

⁷Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts; and I will give thee a place to walk among these that stand by.
⁸Hear now, Joshua the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee--for they are men of portent--for behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.
⁹For behold, the stone that I have laid before Joshua--upon one stone are seven eyes; behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land in one day. (Zech. 3:1‑9)
