And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered  .  .  .  and wept bitterly.
Peter had just broken his promise to the Lord. He had said that he would never deny the Lord Jesus. But when the situation he was in got too tough, he did deny that he knew Jesus. He seemed to have forgotten that he even made the promise. Then when Jesus turned and looked at him, his conscience was activated, he remembered the terrible thing he had done and he wept bitterly. Peter was truly repentant. That’s what the Lord wants from us too when we sin: true repentance. Then communion is restored and we can enjoy fellowship with the Lord again.
