In the LXX the masculine article is prefixed, not as here the feminine; but it may originally have been otherwise as elsewhere. ({vi 6559}{/vi}; {vi 22114}{/vi}; {vi 22792}{/vi}.) The quotation is the sense, not the precise transcript of either the Heb. or the LXX. Abarbanel speaks of a male image for men, a female for women; but this scarcely accounts for the case before us.
