The Lamb
“John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).
“And looking upon Jesus as He walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36).
What a declaration, and what a glorious subject for our heart’s meditation. THE LAMB OF GOD! The theme runs throughout Scripture, from the sacrifice of Abel until the last page of the inspired Word. Forever we will be occupied with the Lord Jesus in this aspect of His work. As the following quote so preciously says:
“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain…the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb…And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth” (Revelation 5:6, 8-10).
