“Do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:5).
An evangelist is someone who has a gift to preach the gospel, and to share the good news with other people. Normally the Lord gives this gift to those who like to speak to people, and who find it easy to socialize with others. They are not afraid to approach someone whom they do not know, and strike up a conversation.
Timothy was not like that; he was a timid man, but the Apostle Paul tells him to “do the work of an evangelist.” That means that even though he was a shy person, Timothy was to speak to those who were not saved and tell them how to get saved.
Maybe some of you find it hard to speak to others about the Lord, but if we realize that they are going to hell if they are not saved, then we will make the effort to speak to them. In these last days sometimes we have to “do the work of an evangelist,” even if we are not gifted for it!
