“A book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon His name” (Malachi 3:16).
During World War II many men among the Allied troops were captured, taken as prisoners of war and held in very uncomfortable prisons. One of these was Colditz Castle in Germany. The meals served would keep a man alive, but that was about all. Eventually the Red Cross, and later the prisoners’ families at home, were allowed to send parcels containing tinned meats, fruits, biscuits and other treats. But do you know what the prisoners said when these wonderful packages arrived? They commented that even though the food was wonderful, the fact that someone was thinking of them was even more wonderful! They had not been forgotten!
The Lord loves to know that we are thinking of Him every day. And our verse tells us that He even writes it down. The families and friends of those soldiers who were prisoners of war appreciated the sacrifice those men had made, and wanted to help them out as much as possible. Do we realize how much the Lord has done for us? Do we remember to think about Him, and thank Him?
