• When Job’s children were taken from him, he graciously submitted to what God had allowed, for he said, “The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away.” But Abraham’s faith was tried with a much severer test and rises to a far higher level. • Abraham is reminded that the son he is to offer up was one “whom thou lovest,” speaking to us of the fact that Christ is the One of whom it is said, “The Father loveth the Son” (Jn. 3:35).
