Some revisers prefer "through" to "by" in vss. 3, 10, 17; and perhaps it might be well thus to discriminate "through" (dia) from "in" (en) which is often better rendered "by" than "in."

I unqualifiedly decide for a colon or full stop after "hath been made," and begin a new sentence with "In him was life." There is an intended contradistinction between what was made or brought into being through the Word with life in Him. which is lost when the new sentence begins with "has been made."
