Mesopotamia.

Heb. Aram-naharaim.{Aram-naharayim,} "Syria of the two rivers," or Mesopotamia, "between the rivers," is a famous province situated between the Tigris and Euphrates.

It is called by Arabian geographers, {Maverannaher,} "the country beyond the river;" and is now called Diarbek.
