This verse brings before us five things that characterized Daniel’s life: 1. Reverence:…………………… “He kneeled.” 2. Perseverance:………… “Three times a day.” 3. Dependence:………………….. “He prayed.” 4. A thankful heart:……… “He gave thanks.” 5. Consistency:………. “As he did aforetime.” Daniel is a great example for us to follow. Even though he lived in very difficult circumstances he never wavered from the convictions that he had as a young man when first brought to the court of King Nebuchadnezzar. In that regard we read, “Daniel purposed in his heart” (Daniel 1:8). This is what stood him in good stead all through his long and fruitful life. Remember, what we develop in youth will either be a help or hindrance as life goes on and we grow older.
