Dear Young Christian:
Everything we have ultimately comes from the hand of God our Father. The Bible tells us, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
When we realize this, then we can accept it all, whether it seems good or bad to us, from His loving hand, knowing that He knows best. As the “Father of lights” He discerns exactly what we need, and what is really for our good and blessing. As His children, our joy and contentment comes when we accept it as such, and submit to His will. Remember, if He withholds something it is not for our good; if He gives us something, thank Him for it, and use it for His glory.
As you head out to school, work, or whatever you are doing this week, don’t forget, “Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of” (Matthew 6:8).

Jim Hyland
