“Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?” (Acts 7:27).
“This Moses…the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer” (Acts 7:35).
If you read about Moses in the book of Exodus, he first tried to be a ruler and judge, and it did not work. The Israelites did not want him in that character. Then, forty years later, he came as a ruler and a deliverer, and God used him greatly in delivering the children of Israel from Egypt.
In the same way the Lord Jesus did not come to this world as a Judge, but rather as a Deliverer. When they tried to make Him a judge, He would not accept that position. Yes, someday He will be a Judge, for God is holy. Today He is a Deliverer, and He went to Calvary’s cross in order to be able to do that. How precious it is to remember that on this day—the Lord’s day.
