“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire” (1 Corinthians 3:15).
We have all heard of people who are in their home when a fire suddenly breaks out. Often the fire spreads rapidly, so that they are unable to save anything out of the house. Perhaps they are unable even to save themselves, and the firemen have to come into the house with smoke masks and pull them out just in time.
It will be like that with some Christians in this world, when the Lord comes. They will be so occupied with their worldly concerns and sin that they will not be expecting the Lord to come and take them home. Then, when the Lord comes, it will be just as if the firemen come and take them away just in time, before judgment falls on this world.
We can be thankful that the Lord will not forget His own in this world, but how sad that true believers will be living in a worldly way, and have to be rescued like this!
