 In psalm 82 the reader will observe that God judges the judges, especially those who in Israel had the divine law to guide them. (Practical Reflections on the Psalms: Psalms 81-84 by J.N. Darby)
 The Lord, in the New Testament days, tells us that these judges, or “gods,” are those “unto whom the word of God came” giving them authority to act in judgment as His representatives, and therefore referred to as “gods” (John 10:35). (Psalms 82 by H. Smith)
 God’s presence is now known in Israel. The Lord has returned (the appearing of Christ) in answer to the cry of the remnant in the preceding psalm. He is seen judging those in the place of authority in the land of Israel (Antichrist, the willful king and other of his government officials Dan. 11:39). Judgment must begin at the house of God (1 Pet. 4:17). (Book 3. by B. Anstey)
