The Diary of a Soul

I WRITE this diary with thankfulness to God; thankful for a measure of restoration to health through God’s mercy, and that the work is showing signs of increased interest and blessing. We have been cheered by hearing that our little booklet. “The Sin Against the Soldier and the Saviour,” is to be largely circulated among, the American soldiers. Let us pray that these soldiers may be kept from believing that awful “doctrine of devils,” that death in battle saves the soul. A Corporal, writing to me from the Front, says: “What more can a lad do than to lay down his life in the interests of what he considered a right and just cause “I wrote and told him that “if enlisting in the British Army gave a man a prescriptive right to heaven, salvation would be a farce indeed.” Every day I get letters from soldiers seeking Christ.
A Gunner writes: — “I am seeking Christ, and I want your advice.”
A Sergeant writes: — “Being convinced that I am, a sinner, and believing that Christ died for me, I have received Him as my personal Saviour, and I intend to confess Him before men...”
A Private writes: — “Please send me a Testament, as I should like to have one. I have been well brought up, but have not found the path of Jesus, having no faith. Please give me some hope.”
These men want Christ, and thank God, thousands of soldiers and sailors are finding Christ in the French Army, as well as the English.
