The Lamb
The subject of the “Lamb” is a subject that occupies the pages of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. Abraham said to Isaac, “My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering” (Genesis 22:8).
John the Baptist declared on two occasions, “Behold the Lamb of God” (John 1:29, 36).
The Apostle John records the fact that the “Lamb” is going to be the paramount theme in heaven and will occupy us for all eternity. “And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain … And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne, and the beasts, and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing” (Revelation 5:6,11-12).
What a theme for our hearts! May that which will be our theme for eternity be our theme today, as we recall to mind that great sacrifice of the “The Lamb of God.”
