Honor — Part 1

There are a number of exhortations in the Bible regarding the honor and respect that is due to certain individuals. Today and tomorrow we will list several. As you read these verses ask yourself, “how much is it true in my life? Do I give ‘honor to whom honor (is due)’ ” (Romans 13:7)?

God:

“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen” (1 Timothy 1:17).

The Lord Jesus:

“The King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:15-16).

Governmental Authority:

“Honor the king” (1 Peter 2:17).

Parents:

“Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)” (Ephesians 6:2).
