“He that hath ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 11:15).
“They have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house” (Ezekiel 12:2).
The first verse today is so important that it is repeated eight times in the Bible. Why is this? It is because we sometimes do not pay attention to what is being said to us. Maybe you have had your parents, or a teacher at school, tell you to “listen up!” We may appear to be listening, but our minds are on something else. We are probably all familiar with the saying, “It went in one ear and out the other.”
The second verse tells us about people (in this case, the people of Israel) who did not want to hear; their hearts were rebellious, and they would not listen. Are we willing to listen to what the Lord has to say to us? What God says to us is always very important, and we need to pay attention to it. God does not speak to us now in an audible voice, but He speaks through His Word. It is important to read it every day, and then to obey it.
