“Continue in prayer…praying also for us” (Colossians 4:2-3).
When we pray, we usually pray for ourselves, and perhaps for others who seem to be in difficulties, or are sick, or perhaps seem to find it hard to go on in their Christian lives. All that is very good, but here we find the Apostle Paul, possibly the greatest servant the Lord ever had, asking the Colossians to pray for him. It is true that he was in prison when he wrote this, but first of all he wanted them to pray that the Lord would open a door for him to preach, and second, that he would be faithful in preaching what he should preach.
Paul was a strong Christian who was a help to others, but he still valued the prayers of his brethren. Sometimes we do not think we need to pray for older Christians who have walked with the Lord for many years, but they need our prayers too. Satan specially attacks those who are living well for the Lord; let us remember to pray for them.
