Faint NotPart 4

Why do we faint? We have considered just a few reasons this week. Here is one last reason, and something to really consider in the society in which many of us find ourselves today. David said, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13). What he was really saying is, “If I lose a sense of the goodness of the Lord and the end of the journey, I will faint. It is those two things that keep me going.”

We live in a live for the moment society. But if we only live for the moment we are going to get discouraged and give up. David’s son, Solomon must have learned the lesson from his father, for he wrote, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). Let’s live the rest of our life in view of eternity and the fact that we are going to be with the Lord Jesus in that wonderful place where we will be beyond the weariness, the trials, the need of chastening and the danger of fainting. In conclusion let’s remember the exhortation, “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9). It will be worth it all when we see HIM!
