“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).
As Christians, you and I can be thankful that we do not have the outlook of those in this world. Yes, we can enjoy good food when the Lord gives it to us, but we do not take on the attitude of this world—just enjoying all the pleasure we can, because we might die at any moment.
No, God has assured us that He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ has won the victory over death for us, and we do not have to fear death. On the other hand, anything we suffer for Christ down here will be richly rewarded. It is well worthwhile to give up the “pleasures of sin,” since they are only “for a season” (Hebrews 11:25). But what is done for the Lord will abide forever.
