“For we are laborers together with God” (1 Corinthians 3:9).
Here is one final thought on labor, or working for the Lord. Our verse today tells us that we are working together with God.
Many years ago, when my son was only eleven years old, he was hired by a neighboring farmer to do farm work. One hot summer day he was sent out into a big wheat field to pull out tall weeds that were standing here and there. After working half a day, he came home hot and tired; that huge wheat field was just too much for him!
It was my half day off, so I encouraged him to go back again, and I offered to go and work with him. We went out into that field and worked together, and what a difference it made! We could talk to each other, and somehow the job was easier. We actually finished the whole field.
If the Lord gives us work to do for Him, it may be hard work, but let us remember that He does not send us out alone; He is there to work with us.
