Cast thy bread on the face of the waters,{HR}For after many days thou shalt find it.
Give a portion to seven, and also to eight,{HR}For thou knowest not what evil shall be on the earth.
If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth;{HR}And if the tree fall toward the north and toward the south,{HR}In the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.
He that observeth the wind shall not sow;{HR}And he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.
As thou knowest not what is the way of the wind,{HR}Nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child;{HR}Even so thou knowest not the work of God who doeth all.
In the morning sow thy seed,{HR}And in the evening withhold not thine hand:{HR}For thou knowest not which shall prosper,{HR}Whether this or that,{HR}Or whether they both shall be alike good.
Now the light is sweet,{HR}And pleasant is it to the eyes to see the sun;{HR}
But if a man live many years, [and] rejoice in them all,{HR}Yet let him remember the days of darkness;{HR}For they shall be many: all that cometh is vanity.{HR}
Rejoice, young man, in thy youth;{HR}And let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth,{HR}And walk in the ways of thy heart,{HR}And in the sight of thine eyes;{HR}But know that for all these [things]{HR}God will bring thee into judgment.{HR}
Then remove discontent from thy heart,{HR}And put away evil from thy flesh;{HR}For childhood and youth are vanity.
