 The testimony of Scripture is clear that just before the Redeemer comes to Zion, the enemy will have “come in like a flood”. This will be the case in a double sense. According to Psalm 2, the kings of the earth and the rulers will have set themselves against the Lord and His Anointed, and Jerusalem will be the target for antagonistic nations; but also, Satan having been cast down to earth, as related in Revelation 12, spiritual wickedness will reach its climax. But just then, the enemy coming in like a flood, the Spirit of God will act to raise up a “standard”, or “banner”, against him. (Isaiah 59 by F.B. Hole)
