Better [is] the poor that walketh in his integrity{HR}Than one perverse in his lips (and) who is a fool.
Also a soul (person) without knowledge [is] not good;{HR}And he that hasteth with [his] feet maketh false steps.
The folly of a man perverteth his way;{HR}And his heart fretteth against Jehovah.
Wealth bringeth many friends;{HR}But the poor is separated from his friend.
A false witness shall not be unpunished,{HR}And an utterer of lies shall not escape.
Many court the favour of a prince;{HR}And every one [is] a friend to him that giveth.
All the brothers of the poor hate him;{HR}How much more do his friends go far from him?{HR}He pursueth [with] words: they are not.
He that getteth sense loveth his own soul;{HR}He that keepeth understanding shall find good.
A false witness shall not be held innocent,{HR}And one uttering lies shall perish.
Luxury is not seemly for a fool;{HR}Much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger;{HR}And [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.
The king’s wrath [is] as a lion’s roaring;{HR}But his favour [is] as dew upon the grass.
A foolish son [is] the calamity of his father;{HR}And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
House and riches [are] an inheritance from fathers;{HR}But a prudent wife [is] from Jehovah.
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep;{HR}And the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul;{HR}He that despiseth his ways shall die.
He that hath pity on the poor lendeth to Jehovah;{HR}And his bestowal will he pay him again.
Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope;{HR}And let not thy heart cause him to die.
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment;{HR}For if thou deliver [him], thou must do it yet again.
Hear counsel and receive instruction,{HR}That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
Many thoughts [are] in a man’s heart,{HR}But the counsel of Jehovah, that shall stand.
The charm of a man [is] his kindness,{HR}And a poor man [is] better than a liar.
The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life;{HR}And he shall abide satisfied;{HR}He shall not be visited with evil.
A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish,{HR}And will not even bring it to his mouth again.
Smite a scorner, and the simple will become prudent;{HR}And reprove the intelligent, he will understand knowledge.
He that ruineth a father [and] chaseth away a mother{HR}Is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
Cease, my son, to hear instruction [causing] to err{HR}From the words of knowledge.
A witness of Belial scorneth judgment,{HR}And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.
Judgments are prepared for scorners,{HR}And stripes for the back of the foolish.
