• As the tribes journey to the land of Israel from various places in the earth, they meet their brethren in the way who are returning with the same goal. They encourage one another in the prospect of soon reaching the city of Jerusalem (vs. 1-4). (“Book 5.” by B. Anstey)
• The joy of a godly man in view of the return to the house of the Lord, and the city of Jerusalem. (vv. 1-2) The psalm opens with an expression of joy on the part of the psalmist on hearing the decision of the godly to journey together to the house of the Lord.
