1 Cor. 1:11• 11For it has been shewn to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of the house of Chloe, that there are strifes among you. (1 Cor. 1:11)
;
1 Cor. 6:1‑8• 1Dare any one of you, having a matter against another, prosecute his suit before the unjust, and not before the saints?
2Do ye not then know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy of the smallest judgments?
3Do ye not know that we shall judge angels? and not then matters of this life?
4If then ye have judgments as to things of this life, set those to judge who are little esteemed in the assembly.
5I speak to you to put you to shame. Thus there is not a wise person among you, not even one, who shall be able to decide between his brethren!
6But brother prosecutes his suit with brother, and that before unbelievers.
7Already indeed then it is altogether a fault in you that ye have suits between yourselves. Why do ye not rather suffer wrong? why are ye not rather defrauded?
8But *ye* do wrong, and defraud, and this your brethren.

1 Cor. 11:18• 18For first, when ye come together in assembly, I hear there exist divisions among you, and I partly give credit to it. (1 Cor. 11:18)

2 Cor. 12:20• 20For I fear lest perhaps coming I find you not such as I wish, and that *I* be found by you such as ye do not wish: lest there might be strifes, jealousies, angers, contentions, evil speakings, whisperings, puffings up, disturbances; (2 Cor. 12:20)

Gal. 5:15,19‑21• 15but if ye bite and devour one another, see that ye are not consumed one of another.
19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness,
20idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strifes, jealousies, angers, contentions, disputes, schools of opinion,
21envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revels, and things like these; as to which I tell you beforehand, even as I also have said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit God's kingdom.

James 4:1‑2• 1Whence come wars and whence fightings among you? Is it not thence,--from your pleasures, which war in your members?
2Ye lust and have not: ye kill and are full of envy, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war; ye have not because ye ask not.

as men.
Gr. according to man.
Nor was it from lack of natural ability, but on the contrary because they valued and trusted it to the hindrance of the Holy Spirit. (Notes on 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 by W. Kelly)
Emulation and strife were works of the flesh, not fruits of the Spirit. Their existence in their midst showed how little they walked in self judgment. (Notes on 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 by W. Kelly)

Sarkinos. as Rom. 7.14; Heb. 7.16; 2 Cor. 3.3. This word is said to mean properly the material -- the composition of a thing. "Carnal," twice in verse 3, is sarkinos, a form used, in some places, to express either material or physical or moral ideas. It occurs also in Rom. 15.27; 1 Cor. 9.11; 2 Cor. 1.12; 10.4; 1 Pet. 2.11. This last passage, "fleshly lusts," shows how the material and moral thoughts run into one another.
