Una sola vez al año el sacerdote podía entrar, bajo una nube de incienso y con la sangre de expiación en la mano (véase Levítico 16:1-171And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died; 2And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. 3Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. 4He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on. 5And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. 6And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house. 7And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 8And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat. 9And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering. 10But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. 11And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself: 12And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: 13And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: 14And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. 15Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: 16And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. (Leviticus 16:1‑17)). ¿Qué quiere decir esto? Hebreos 10:20-2120By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21And having an high priest over the house of God; (Hebrews 10:20‑21) nos lo explica: “Así que, hermanos, teniendo libertad para entrar en el santuario por la sangre de Jesucristo, por el camino que Él nos consagró nuevo y vivo, por el velo, esto es, por Su carne”. Así que aquel velo prefiguraba Su carne —la humanidad de Jesús— por cuanto “Dios ha sido manifestado en carne” (1 Timoteo 3:1616And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (1 Timothy 3:16)). “Aquel Verbo [Cristo] fue hecho carne, y habitó entre nosotros (y vimos Su gloria, gloria como del unigénito del Padre), lleno de gracia y de verdad” (Juan 1:1414And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14); véase también Hebreos 1:33Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3)).
¡Qué misterio de gracia se nos presenta aquí! Él era “el Santo” en cuanto a Su humanidad; distinto a todos los demás hombres, porque era sin pecado. “Al que no conoció pecado”, [Dios lo] “hizo pecado por nosotros, para que nosotros fuésemos hechos justicia de Dios en Él” (2 Corintios 5:2121For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)). Sí, era necesario que se hiciera hombre para que pudiera morir por nosotros, a fin de que fuésemos salvos. “Habiendo hecho la purgación de nuestros pecados por sí mismo, se sentó a la diestra de la Majestad en las alturas” (Hebreos 1:33Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3)). Ahora tenemos plena libertad para entrar en Su presencia en contraste a la falta de parte de Aarón. Pero antes de que fuera así, el velo tendría que ser roto; al mismo instante de la muerte de Jesús, dicho “velo del templo se rompió en dos, de alto a bajo ... y se abrieron los sepulcros ... de santos” (Mateo 27:51-5251And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, (Matthew 27:51‑52)). ¡Bendito sea Dios, ya no hay barrera!
“Rasgóse el velo”; —ya no más
Distancia mediará;
Al trono mismo de su Dios
El alma llegará.
“Rasgóse el velo”; —¡sombras, id!
La luz resplandeció;
La cara misma de su Dios
Jesús ya reveló.
“Rasgóse el velo”; —hecha está
Eterna redención;
El alma pura y limpia ya
No teme perdición.
“Rasgóse el velo”; —Dios abrió
Los brazos de Su amor;
Entrar podemos donde entró
Jesús, el Salvador.
