Lydda.
This circumstance the Spirit of God relates after Paul’s conversion, and before the record of his special work, without doubt to show the spiritual and apostolic energy still existing in Peter, at the very time that God was calling a new apostle, who should bring in much new light, and commence a new work. What God had done by Peter, and what He was about to do by Paul, are thus intermingled, to preserve the unity of the Church, and, although Paul be the Apostle of the Gentiles, it is Peter who is first instrumental in bringing them into the Church. (Fifteen Days With Paul by W.T.P. Wolston)
The Spirit of God relates this circumstance here, between the conversion of Saul and his apostolic work, to show us, I doubt not, the apostolic energy in Peter existing at the very time when the call of the new apostle was to bring in new light. (Acts 9:32-11:18 by J.N. Darby)
In chapters 9:32-11:18, we find then, the power of the Spirit of God with Peter in the midst of Israel, and the admission of Gentiles into the earthly assembly, without their becoming Jews. (Acts 9:32-11:18 by J.N. Darby)
Lydda or Lod was at this time a considerable town—as Josephus informs us, not behind a city in size. (Acts 9:32-35 by W. Kelly)
