Poisonous Grass!

Listen from:
Oh, no! Young Dougie’s bare feet were wet with bug poison! Suddenly he thought, What if the poison goes through my skin and into my blood and kills me! Frightened, he dashed into the house yelling, “Mom, I’m going to die! I’m going to die!”
After his mother discovered why he thought he was going to die, she asked him, “Well, Dougie, will you go to heaven to be with Jesus then?”
Four-year-old Dougie hung his head, and with tears running down his face, he cried, “No, Mom! I haven’t asked Jesus into my heart yet.”
Dougie’s bare feet were wet with bug poison, and his little heart was filled with the poison of sin.
Dad had warned the children that morning that he was going to spray the grass to kill the bugs. He didn’t want anyone coming outside! Dougie hadn’t paid much attention, and without remembering his father’s orders, he had disobeyed and run barefoot through the grass that was wet with insecticide that would kill the bugs. Now his feet were covered with the poison!
Dougie is no different from every boy and girl in this world. The Bible tells us, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:2323For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)). That little word “all” not only includes boys and girls, but grown-ups too. We all have many sins in our hearts! And our sins are like a poison that will keep us out of heaven forever. The Bible also warns us that ”the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:2323For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)).
But we have good news for children and grown-ups too. Jesus’ precious blood that He shed on the cross for sinners is the only remedy for our sin problem: ”In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:77In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7)).
Dougie’s mother led him in prayer to the Lord Jesus, asking Him to wash all his sins away, and Dougie accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. He was so relieved and happy to know that his sins were gone, and now he was ready for heaven!
Dougie’s bare feet that were covered with the grass poison were quickly washed, and now they were clean, just as his little heart was now clean from sin.
The Lord Jesus loves Dougie, and He loves you too. Have you asked Him to wash your sins away?
MEMORY VERSE: “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:77In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7)
