The expression "in that" seems to be used with a certain variety of application. It expresses the condition or occasion under which a thing is done, or occurs; while also is the time, sphere, state, or power in question.

I reject the notion that it means "in having to act through the flesh," or "through the medium of the flesh." No doubt the construction is decisive against "on account of the flesh"; but "dia" with a genitive often means in a given state, though oftener still "by means of."
