Children dear have precious souls,
Souls for which the Saviour died—
Souls for which the Prince of Life
Was on Calvary crucified.
How it tells the matchless love
Of the blessed Son of God,
Thus to come from heaven to bear
Sin’s tremendous heavy load.
Had He not upon the cross
Borne the wrath that sin deserved,
Never had our happy ears
That sweet word Salvation heard.
Now we hear the joyful sound
Of salvation full and free;
Faith in Jesus makes it ours,
Now and through eternity!
