A dear little girl has come with her mother to get some water. What a beautiful trust the child has in her mother, for she is conscious of her mother’s love and care.

There is One whom we should ever trust as this small child does her mother. It is the Lord, Who is ever caring for us. He says:

“TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL THINE HEART; AND LEAN NOT UNTO THINE OWN UNDERSTANDING.” Proverbs 3:5⁵Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5).

The Lord does not ask us to pay for the things He gives us: they are as free as the water at this spring. And better than the air, sunshine and water without which we could not live, is the “Water of Life,” which we can get only from the Lord. He says,

“Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17¹⁷And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (Revelation 22:17).

“Whosoever drinketh of the water than I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14¹⁴But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:14).

“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money, and without price.” Isa. 55:1¹Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. (Isaiah 55:1).
