Verses Eddie Learned

EDDIE and his two friends have just come from Sunday School. Eddie knew more Bible verses today than the other children did. He had studied hard all week. Now Tommie and Joe want him to help them to learn more verses, so Eddie is helping them.

This is the first verse that Eddie ever learned. “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” Psa. 27:1¹<<A Psalm of David.>> The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1).

These are other verses that he likes: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31³¹And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31).

“Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in Him, and He in God.” 1 John 4:15¹⁵Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. (1 John 4:15).

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8⁸If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8).

“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7⁷But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7). “The Lord is my Shepherd.” Psa. 23:1¹<<A Psalm of David.>> The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1).

“We love Him, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19¹⁹We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19).

“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth.” Eccl. 12:1¹Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; (Ecclesiastes 12:1).

“For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saving unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” Isa. 41:13¹³For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. (Isaiah 41:13).

Eddie likes to sing John 3:16¹⁶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) to the tune of “Silent Night.”
