There is good and ancient evidence for "the Lord Jesus Christ"; though one or two MSS. may omit the clause as a whole, there is no doubt of the "Lord," which, it may be noticed, is the prevailing designation throughout the epistle, save where special reasons have "Christ Jesus."

The expression "grace be with you" is for those in general with Timothy, which is marred in a few versions which make Timothy the only object in the second wish as in the first.
