315. Day's Journey

This is a very ancient mode of estimating distances, and is still in use. A “day’s journey” varies, according to circumstances, from eighteen miles to thirty. The ordinary day’s journey of Scripture is probably not far from twenty miles. 23And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.
