A very dear friend, who requests that even his initials may be withheld, desires some light on Isaiah 21:11-1211The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? 12The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will inquire, inquire ye: return, come. (Isaiah 21:11‑12). We cannot do better than quote for him Lowth’s beautiful translation of the passage.

11 “A voice crieth unto me from Seir:
Watchman, what from the night?
Watchman, what from the night?”
