Have you ever raised chicks? When I was growing up, every two years we would order a batch of baby chicks. We brought them home from the post office where they had arrived, carefully protected in a large box. Then we put them in the chicken house.
In the middle of the chicken house, we had a special lamp called a heat lamp. It was red. The fluffy, yellow chicks would go sit under it to get warm, and then they gradually moved away from it as they got hot. They would run around, going “peep-peep,” and we liked to watch them eat the special chick feed and drink their water. The heat lamp stayed on all the time, until it got warm outside and the chicks grew bigger.
One night after dark, a man came to our door. We didn’t know who he was. He happened to be driving by our house and saw the chicken house from the road. But inside the chicken house he saw a red glow, and he thought something might have caught on fire, so he quickly came to our door to tell us. We explained that it was the red heat lamp for the chicks, and everything was okay. We thanked him for stopping to warn us of what he thought was real danger. He understood and went on his way. We were pleased with this kindness from someone we didn’t even know.
Hasn’t the Lord Jesus done all this and more for us? He KNEW we were sinners and couldn’t save ourselves, so He came down from heaven to die on the cross, taking the punishment for the sins of anyone who will believe and trust in Him. “Whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe” (Proverbs 29:2525The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. (Proverbs 29:25)).
If you are a boy or girl who has already been saved from the punishment for your sins in the lake of fire, have you ever warned your friends and classmates? Have you told them of the danger for anyone who dies still in their sins? God says, “Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:1515And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)). Can you tell them how to have their names written in God’s book of life by letting the Lord Jesus wash them clean from their sins? Ask the Lord Jesus to help you tell them. It’s a very important warning of real danger!
