Baby's Bath

BABY does not like it a bit. Perhaps the soap water went into his eyes and made them smart, or, perhaps he wants to splash as he likes, and mother’s hand is restraining him, or, maybe he wants to play with sister and is impatient. But he has been playing in the dirt outside, and has become quite grimy and black, and he must be washed and dressed in clean clothes. Then he can sit on the floor, and play with sister and brother and Caesar. He will feel better, I know, and’ won’t get sister’s white stockings and clean apron dirty.
Sin has defiled men and women, boys and girls, and made their hearts black and impure. God’s word tells us,
“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:2323For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23).
So before they can. enter heaven, or be able to stand in God’s presence and live (for all will have to face Him some day), they have to be washed, not with soap and water, but With the precious blood of Christ.
So children, who are yet in your sins, do not rest until you have prayed,
“Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow”. Psa. 51:77Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (Psalm 51:7). Else you will be sorry, O! how sorry! for ever and ever.
