NOVEMBER 28
And Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, Lord, why? . . . Turn from Thy fierce wrath.
Exodus 32:11,1211And Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, Lord, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 12Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. (Exodus 32:11‑12)
Read carefully verses 7 through 14. They are remarkable verses. God had decided that because Israel had turned into such gross idolatry, He would destroy them all and rebuild Israel through Moses’s line. In our verse today Moses, in a very humble and genuine spirit, earnestly beseeches God not to destroy Israel. And God doesn’t. He listens to us when we respectfully reason with Him. We should listen to each other too.
