V.22-28 tell us how these pieces were secured to each other! Doesn’t that warm your heart to realize this is your position of love (breastplate) and security (shoulder piece) as Christ now girds Himself (girdle) and securely keeps us (chains and rings) in communion with God our loving Father.
V.30 No description is ever given of the Urim and Thummim. From Numbers 27:2121And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation. (Numbers 27:21) we learn that they were used to ask God questions. The words imply “light” and “perfections”. In the millennium, Christ Himself shall take their place for Israel.
V.33-35 Pomegranates of cloth alternated with bells of gold. Aaron wore these as a band on the hem of the robe of the ephod.
V.36-39 Described yesterday.
V.40-43 Aaron is a picture of Christ, Aaron’s sons are a picture of all believers individually. We too have garments of “glory and beauty”! Do we live each day as if we had on the “best robe” (Luke 15:2222But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: (Luke 15:22))?
