V.1-4 The candlestick gave the only light in the tabernacle. It was in the first room “the holy place.” God is light (1 John 1:55And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (John 1:5)), Jesus was the light of the world (John 9:55As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. (John 9:5)) and the Holy Spirit is the oil (the power) which enables that light to shine. Seven lamps tell us that it was perfect. Let us see to it that the light of our life, what we say and do, is for the glory of the Lord alone. (Read Matt. 5:14-1614Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14‑16)). What a responsibility we have!
V.23-26 The mature and productive years of their life were to be devoted to the Lord’s service. After 50 years of age, they could go into the tabernacle, but not to do any work of service.
