V.3-5 The king does not yet know that Esther is a Jewess, and he asks in surprise who is it that would dare to threaten her life.

V.6 She accuses Haman. Swift vengeance comes upon that haughty, crafty, guilty man. Let us remember as we read this story, that the Lord is behind all that takes place (Prov. 21:1¹The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. (Proverbs 21:1); Psa. 73:19¹⁹How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. (Psalm 73:19)).
